Description:

As a part of the Operational Excellence–sponsored Productivity Suite project, Berkeley has signed a campus license agreement to provide the most commonly used Microsoft software to all faculty, staff, and students. There is no cost to individuals or departments for the MS software for the 2012–13 fiscal year.

Software Downloads


Students:

Students can download one copy of the following products and may keep the software perpetually upon graduation.

 

UC Berkeley and Microsoft have partnered with Kivuto Services (formerly the eAcademy) as our fulfillment partner. You will be redirected to their website for your downloads.

  • Instructions for download and installation are available on the Instructions page. If you need more help, visit the Student Computer Consulting Service.
  • To download software, go to http://ucbwah.onthehub.com (CalNet ID required).
  • IMPORTANT: You have 31 days from the day you "Check Out" of the download page to download your software. See the Instructions page for details. If you do not wish to install the software at the time you download it, you may archive the download for future installation (e.g., onto a flash drive).

Faculty and Staff for work at home:

Faculty and staff can download one copy of the following products.

 

  • Office Professional Plus or Office for Mac Home & Business (one or the other, not both)
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating System (OS) Upgrades including Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 8 Professional
  • Microsoft Project
  • Microsoft Visio
  • UC Berkeley is licensed for a limited number of Visio and Project licenses. We encourage those that have a legitimate need for these products to download and use them, and ask that those who do not to refrain from incurring the additional expense to the institution that will be required to purchase additional licensing.

The Microsoft agreement allows unlimited deployment of a wide range of Microsoft desktop and server software on institutionally owned devices. For a complete list, see the Product List page.

We encourage those that have a legitimate need for these products to download and use them, and ask that those who do not to refrain from incurring the additional expense to the institution that will be required to purchase additional licensing.

  • To get access to media and keys, have your department Faculty/Manager/MSO/Director send email to ms-license@berkeley.edu with
    • MICROSOFT DEPT IT in the subject line
    • department name and authorizer
    • names and email addresses of persons to be granted access
    • list of product keys requested
    • estimated number of machines on which you intend to install, by platform (e.g., 20 Macs and 56 PCs)

MS TechNet

The Microsoft agreement allows faculty, staff, and students free subscription to TechNet, a collection of premium support resources providing quick access to Microsoft experts, and technical information, as well as access to managed forums.

To get access, send email to ms-license@berkeley.edu with

  • TECHNET in the subject line.
  • your name, email address, phone number, department, and affiliation (e.g., student, faculty, or staff)

When you have been given access, you will receive an email from Microsoft with directions on how to subscribe.

Training

UC Learning Center. The campus offers free software training to UC Berkeley employees through the UC Learning Center (accessible via the Blu portal — CalNet ID required).
