Web Hosting Pilot Program

IST has created a pilot program to offer affordable web hosting solutions sourced from an external service provider, Dreamhost. This program is only available to current Socrates or Arachne customers whose web sites do not include restricted data. The two available options are for shared or direct hosting depending on the requirements and complexity of the web site. This program is available beginning October 27, 2008. Instructions for both options are listed below and more information is available here.

• Shared Hosting Instructions (available only to web sites identified in this list, please review before proceeding)

1. Read, complete, and submit the Shared Hosting click through agreement.
2. Submission of the form will generate a ticket for the Socrates Consulting team.
3. You will receive an automated email confirmation with further information.
4. The Socrates Consulting Team will respond to the ticket with a status update within two business days.
5. Once the account is created and ready for use, the ticket will be updated to include instructions.
6. Follow the instructions and respond to the ticket when complete.

• Direct Hosting Instructions

1. Read, complete, and submit the Direct Hosting click through agreement.
2. Submission of the form will generate a ticket for the Socrates Consulting team.
3. You will receive an automated email confirmation with further information and instructions for setting up your account with Dreamhost.
4. Set up your account with Dreamhost. (Support is managed via the Dreamhost panel at https://panel.dreamhost.com/.)
5. Once you've completed the account set up, reply to the ticket to move your domain name. (CalWeb consultants will be available to help you gain access to your account.)

Statistical Packages

IST is working with Professor Merrill Shanks at SSCL to develop a solution for moving your files and setting up replacement software. We realize that time is running out for the 1/31/09 shutdown date; and will therefore extend the Socrates service for your user community only until the end of February 2009.
