Campus Network Funding Plan

In 2000, the Chancellor's Computing and Communications Policy Board (CCCPB) approved recommendations for implementing a network funding plan. The objective of developing a network funding model was to provide for upgrades of the data network and financial stability to ensure ongoing progress in replacing and modernizing network equipment.

The original plan was to fund the network from both central campus funds and monthly departmental charges. July 1, 2000 was designated as a census day for identifying existing network connections and configurations. The data connections, or network nodes, counted at that time were identified as the "node bank". The node bank was supposed to be funded from Central Campus. Network nodes, in excess of the node bank were funded from monthly charges to the unit responsible for the connection.

This model is still in place today, although the node bank was never fully funded. A history of the Network Funding Model and information on the current network node rates can be found in the following links.
