Blade Servers

Blade servers are the preferred solution for resource-intensive applications that demand dedicated physical hardware. The service leases standardized Dell servers from a pool managed and overseen by skilled system administrator technologists within a secure, redundant, and high- availability environment.

CalHPC - High Performance Computing Cluster Service

CalHPC provides support for high-performance Linux computing clusters hosted in the campus Data Center. Cluster management is provided by the Scientific Cluster Support (SCS) group of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL).

CalNet Active Directory

CalNetAD is Berkeley's implementation of Microsoft Windows Active Directory which brings CalNet services for single sign-on and directory information to Windows computers on campus.

Consulting Services for Joining MS Exchange Environment

The Enterprise Windows Team manages the root Exchange 2007 server infrastructure and offers a consulting service for Exchange Server Administrators to authorize the installation of their departments’ Exchange servers in their respective environments.

Data Center Colocation

IST provides colocation services in the campus Data Center. The service provides customers with a secure location and network connectivity for housing mission-critical servers.

File Servers

File Servers require purchasing a Virtual Machine (VM) and Storage.

Key Management Server (KMS)

The Enterprise Windows Team offers a free key management server (KMS) for campus customers to activate their Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 machines.

Managed Firewall Service

Firewall service is required for dedicated subnets located in the Data Center. Service is provided using Cisco Systems' Firewall Service Module (FWSM). All Data Center firewall instances are highly available.

Virtual Machine (VM) Servers

A Virtual Machine is a low cost server solution based on VMWare technology. Through virtualization software, physical hardware is partitioned into logical computing evnironments that can be provisioned quickly in cost-effective and flexible manner.

Windows Server Update Service

The Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) is a tool for campus administrators to check for the latest approved patches for Microsoft operating systems and application.

The Enterprise Windows Team offers server administration services for servers located in the Data Center. Gold package includes 24 hours support and is available only for redundant, highly available system architectures.
