Welcome to Enterprise Windows

The Enterprise Windows Team offers Intel and Microsoft Windows-based technical solutions and services to the Berkeley Campus. The Enterprise Windows Team provides server support for a diverse set of campus applications, including BFS, HCM, Payroll, Kronos, Unibears, CalNet Active Directory, and CalNet PKI. The following services are offered to the campus:

  • CalShare (CalNet login required): CalShare is UC Berkeley's implementation of Microsoft's SharePoint Technology. CalShare allows users to easily create, manage and build collaborative web sites and make them available to other users of CalShare.
  • CalNet Active Directory: CalNetAD is Berkeley's implementation of Microsoft Windows Active Directory which brings CalNet services for single sign-on and directory information to Windows computers on campus. It is provided as a free service to the campus.
  • CalNetPKI: CalNetPKI is Berkeley's self-signed implementation of Microsoft's Certificate Services.
  • CalWeb (IIS): CalWeb Microsoft IIS-based servcie is a low-cost web hosting solution for campus units that wish to maintain their own web content in a secure, fast, and reliable web hosting environment. This service is ideal for traditional, static content web sites and for sites requiring limited database support. This service offers support for ASP, .NET, Frontpage, SQL, and SSH web tools.
  • Servers: The Enterprise Windows Team offers a lower cost, highly reliable Windows Server architecture to meet campus requirements.
  • System Administration: The Enterprise Windows Team offers server administration services for servers located in the Data Center.
  • Verisign SSL Certificates: IST has purchased SSL certificates in bulk from VeriSign, at significant cost savings for the campus, and is administering the issuance of these certificates. Campus departments can now order new and renewal certificates for one or two years through this service.
  • Web Farm Service: The Microsoft IIS-based Web Farm service is designed for resource intensive web-based applications with more complex database requirements. The service offers Development, Test/QA, and Production environments. Application programmers have access to the Development environment. Code migrations to Test/QA and Production are controlled. The Production environment is a load-balanced server farm.
  • WSUS: The Enterprise Windows Team offers a free Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) to help administrators more easily manage and deploy Windows updates.
