DB2 Database Services

The DB2 Database group provides professional database administration, support, and consulting for critical campus systems. DB2 is a full-featured database capable of handling the most demanding applications with a high volume of transactions. DB2 has been upgraded to V8, which offers data support, application development, and query functionality enhancements for e-business, while building upon the traditional characteristics of availability, exceptional scalability, and performance for the enterprise of choice. DB2 licensing supports an unlimited number of end-users.

All current customers receive 24x365 database support on the IBM mainframe model z9-2096 rated at 770 million instructions per second (MIPS), hosted in the state-of-the-art data center. Database and Systems Administrators work together to provide a robust and secure environment. They administer patches and upgrades to the operating system, DB2 database, and tools. DBAs manage database backups, restores, and perform annual disaster recovery drills. They monitor the database for availability, warnings, and ensure the optimum database performance. DBAs provide consulting to application developers.
