Infrastructure Services (IS)

Infrastructure Services support the core building blocks for IT projects and services on the Berkeley campus. The five units cover network, system and database core services, as well as infrastructure applications and security, and infrastructure architecture design and development.

  • Database Services: Manages all database platforms for campuswide systems including transaction, reporting and data warehouse database systems. Provides database services for distributed or departmental systems as needed.
  • Enterprise Platforms & Storage: Manages all platforms including mainframe, open system servers, clustered computing, storage environments, and compute demand planning.
  • Infrastructure Applications: Provides information security services, supports core enterprise infrastructure applications, including: directory services, identity management, and productivity applications like email and calendaring. Determines standards and best practices for infrastructure development within IST. Promotes compatible standards and best practices across campus IT infrastructure groups. Develops reusable components for use in infrastructure solutions.
  • Network Services and Operations: Supports the design, operation, and management of campus communication services, including network, telephone, and wireless systems. Manages all physical environments including cable plant, communication vaults, and campus Data Center.
