As of August 6, 2008 (until further notice): Due to
temporary staff vacancies, DOCS Hardware Support, a.k.a. Campus
Computer Repair and Support (CCRS), is making the following changes
regarding in-warranty work for Dell and Apple hardware.
All campus customers (departments, students, individuals) in need of
in-warranty work for Dell hardware are asked to contact Dell directly
at 1-800-624-9896.
Department customers in need of in-warranty work for Apple hardware are asked to contact Apple directly at 1-800-800-2775.
Please be sure to have the model and serial number of the Dell or Apple
hardware you need work on when you call. Both manufacturers will make
house calls for departmental desktop machines.
Other hardware and non-warranty work
DOCS Hardware Support will continue to accept in-warranty work for
hardware by Lenovo, Toshiba, HP, Sony, and Apple (from students and
individuals), as well as non-warranty work for hardware by any
manufacturer, both of which will be handled by DOCS's partners,
ComputerCare (Apple hardware) and New Dimensions (all other hardware).
Users can drop off their equipment at D25 Hearst Field Annex (http://www.tsw.berkeley.edu/eStore/layoutgraphics/TAS-Map.jpg), Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
DOCS plans to continue warranty support on campus, and to that end, is
actively hiring and training personnel. We will notify you as we make
progress in this regard.
