Workstation & Microcomputer Facilities

The Workstation & Microcomputer Facilities (W&MF) group provides both general access (drop-in) and instructional computer laboratories to the Berkeley campus. It supports 600 computer seats in 14 different locations. W&MF staff design, install, and maintain all aspects of the labs including physical layout, A/V, hardware, and software. The Student Computer Consulting Service is a branch of W&MF that provides direct consulting support for AirBears, connectivity issues, and related network services to all UC Berkeley affiliates.

W&MF staff schedule open hours and reservations for the labs, and work closely with faculty to build discipline-specific software environments. These labs also provide academic users access to specialized software packages and peripherals such as scanners and high-speed laser color printers. In addition, the group supports a computer lab dedicated to UC Berkeley staff training.
