Admissions, Curriculum, Institutional Planning, and Academic Senate Systems

This team supports systems forthe Admissions Office,Institutional Planning,Academic Senate,and the Registrar's Unit for Class Scheduling.They participate in replatformingthe Office of Undergraduate Admissions' Application with UCOP (The CASA Project)and support technology for Evaluation & Transfer Coursework processing,the Academic Senate's Course Curriculum Management,the Registrar's Class Scheduling & Room Reservation,and the Office of Planning & Analysis'sCampus Instructional Resources management functionsfrom its current technology to a more modern technology.The team is currently investigating optionsfor convertingUGA (Undergraduate Admissions System),TCS (Transfer Course System),COURSE (Course Approval System),CATALOG (General Catalog System),CLASS (Class Scheduling System),ROOM (Room Reservation System),and CSIR (Campus System of Instructional Resources System)from the mainframe to another platform.

In addition to planning for the future,the group is responsible foroverseeing the current, ongoing supportfor the UGA, TCS, COURSE, CATALOG, CLASS & ROOM, and CSIR applications.For Undergraduate Admissions systems,the manager is a partnerwith management in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA)who sponsor the UGA and TCS systems.IST and OUA management work togetherto ensure that Undergraduate Admissions systemsmeet the needs for capturing and maintaining most accurate informationon all undergraduate applicants to the Berkeley campus.Admissions data,including demographic, academic,test scores, and all high school or transfer coursework,provide the basis for OUA to perform its comprehensive reviewbefore rendering admission decisions on each year's cohort.The unit manager leads the development of project plansfor new initiatives for UGA and TCS,and ensures compliance with legislation and Regents' decisionsthat affect Berkeley's Undergraduate Admissions review and evaluation processes.With the recent adventof the new CASA(Centralized Admissions & Scholarships Application) pilot systembeing developed by Pearsons Systems,the team participates with Office of Undergraduate Admissions in advisory groupsand collaborates with UCOP, other campuses' admissions offices,and Pearsons Systemsin the development of design specifications and acceptance testing for CASA.
