The Application Architecture Unit of Application Services is charged with facilitating the achievement of Quality, Speed, and Flexibility in application and service provision, by determining standards and best practices in methodology, tools, and technology frameworks for application component and service development within IST; and with participating as a leader and change agent in developing standards and best practices in these areas for the campus as a whole (in consultation and cooperation with appropriate IT architecture and IT governance bodies). Architectural decisions, roadmaps, methodologies, and development environments developed and/or selected by this group are expected to be applicable to practical problems faced by the campus, and to be accessible and achievable in the organizations to which they apply. The unit prototypes implementations in newly adopted technologies, and consults with developer teams in and outside IST to facilitate and assist in adoption of standards and best practices for implementation of reusable software components and services.
